Panteras by Fuz-Caforio-Art
Acrylic on canvas. 136 x 230cm. This is a commissioned piece and the largest canvas I've painted to date. I had to include pale gold hues in the painting to marry with the theme of the room in which the piece will hang. It took more than a month to complete and I'm quite happy with the outcome- more importantly, my client loves it.
Ebony by Fuz-Caforio-Art
Acrylic on canvas. 60 x 60cm. I've been experimenting with a new canvas primer and this is the first piece completed on the new surface. Still getting the hang of it- it takes a lot more detail than the "toothier"primers that I've used for so many years so I opted to take things easy with this simple composition.
Izwi Lami. Hear my voice. by Fuz-Caforio-Art
Izwi Lami. Hear my voice.
Acrylic on canvas (with a little Photoshop help from my son Mickey 45 x 90cm. This is an illustration for a collaborative book I'm currently working on. I thought it would be an appropriate addition because of the leopard. This is the first time my son & I have worked together on a piece so I'm quite stoked to include it in my gallery.
Bath Time by Fuz-Caforio-Art
Bath Time
Acrylic on canvas. 50 x 50cm. Not much to comment on this piece except to say that I enjoyed watching the interplay as the cheetah groomed her cub- it was anxious for mom to get the job done so that it could run off to play with it's siblings- no different to us humans!
Shayamanzi by Fuz-Caforio-Art
Acrylic on canvas. 60 x 120cm. A collector of mine really liked a painting that I did of a lioness running through water which I completed a while back ("Ambush"). He asked if I could do a leopard in a similar setting. I didn't have much reference of leopards in water so I had to "borrow" some detail from the lioness piece. I think it turned out pretty well in the end. "Shayamanzi" is Zulu for "Strike the water" which I thought was an apt title for this action piece.
Thank you for the DD for "Ghost of the North"!
I spent some time in a large enclosure with two captive male snowy owls- photographing and observing them. At first they were somewhat agitated by my presence and flew over my hunched form in a threatening way. After a while, when they realized I wasn't presenting any danger to them, the quietly took position in the furthest corner away from me, watching me with those magnificent yellow eyes. I sat there with a huge grin on my face, exhilarated by the experience. My most profound memory is of how quiet the owls were in flight- their wings hardly making any sound at all! With "Ghost of the North", I tried to capture that moment of silent flight with the wraith-like owl suspended in space.

Top notch work! I love your big cat paintings. i actually mistook some of them for photos, particularly the leopard at twilight and the snow leopard. they look so real.

Your traditional illustrations are wonderful! Are you more of an oil or acrylic kind of person? =3

Hi there and thank you! I am more of an acrylic lover. I like that it dries fast and am used to working in this medium.

Yeah, same here. I have little patience; so oils tend to leave me frustrated.
