Acrylic on canvas. 80 x 80cm. The genus and species of the African Wild Dog is Lycaon pictus which translates to "painted wolf". A very apt name for this magnificent and highly endangered canid. I'm in awe of the very tight family bonds that packs of wild dogs have. Sadly, it's these very bonds that decimate wild dog populations through the quick spread of domestic diseases such as distemper and rabies.
